Spam filtering

It seemed I wasn’t getting a lot of real mail, but really a lot of spam. When I only saw a few logcheck server log emails coming in, not even as much as there should have been, it began to dawn on me… I checked my SpamAssassin filtering folter and tada… 1800 spam and non-spam mails waiting for me. Hmm, how did that happen? Did SpamAssassin go nuts?

Nah, not at all… While at FOSDEM I hastily entered a filtering rule in my Evolution… Specific header X-Spam-Status contains Yes. Looked fine… checked some emails in the junk folder… X-Spam-Status: No …… BAYES. Ack! Changed contains into starts with, re-filter, all is well. Ooops.

The loot

Yesterday we went to the Boekenfestijn in the Brabanthal here in Leuven. Got there around 10:15, and while it opened at 10 the parking was just about full and the thing was crawling with people. Still got a nice bunch of books, all for the price of about 1.5 new good O’Reilly books 😉 Did get a Python O’Reilly book get snatched away right in front of my nose though 🙁

Boekenfestijn 2007 loot

A lot of O’Reilly books, a few cat books, a Google book, and a book by our good friend Richard Hammond, called "What not to drive". A rocket car isn’t in there (yet!), heh, but Jeremy Clarkson’s Ford GT surely is 😀

Subalbums in ZenPhoto

I’d think sub-albums are basic part of any gallery/album software, yet Zenphoto which is supposed to be all-new and web2.0’ish still doesn’t support it after more than a year… how hard can it be? 🙁 Dissapointing…

Bollywood

Yesterday Diana and I went to see the show "Bollywood " at the Elisabethzaal in Antwerp, an Indian story about the life of a man and his granddaughter making their way through the Indian movie world. It was fun, though expensive (the seat location wasnt that great even though there were even 2 categories lower than the one we had), and the general feeling was the last Indian show we saw, Bharati , was actually much better, with better dancers. 🙂

Poweradmin with slashes

At work, Mobistar delegated our reverse DNS to a zone with a slash in it. I didn’t even know this was legal in DNS but apparently it is, and BIND and PowerDNS serve it perfectly. I installed PowerAdmin to manage my PowerDNS records with a GUI (MySQL INSERT/UPDATE was becoming a bit tedious), but could not create a domain nor any entries below it (after creating the domain through MySQL), because it wouldn’t accept the / as a valid character. I cooked up a small patch (don’t know if it’s complete, I just know it works for me) which you can find here .

[31|14:37:49] <@redLED> 2.2 Each Internet Network must operate a fully functional 24×7 Network Operations Center.
[31|14:39:04] <@redLED> nibbler_: would be fun to apply for peering, sending them in response to section 2.2 a floor plan of your noc, 24 meters long, 7 meters wide, built to ‘Verizon standards’
