Went to Kinepolis this evening after a long time of absence – wanted to see Spiderman 3 but it was of course full. Went to see Perfect Stranger instead, which had an interesting ending 🙂

However, this was my first Kinepolis numbered-seat experience, and like Jan, I didn’t really like it. Being able to go to the cinema on a whim, without having the worst seats in the theater, or being able to choose depending on who sits where instead of seeing which seats are coloured white on the screen is quite nice. In other countries it’s always been like this, but for us this is quite a change… Maybe it’s just a habit, but unless you can tell beforehand you’re going next week to the movies and reserve the best places right away, I don’t see the turn for the good…

  1. Jimmy Cappaert Says:

I think this is really something useful for larger groups, or even smaller ones. At premiere night, it’s pretty crowded at many theatres, especially for the more popular movies. And unless you and your friends are *way* in advance, the chance of finding seats that are all next to each other, is quite slim …

Oh and by the way: just buy tickets for the seats next to you, on both sides. That way you have a place for your coat, and you will have the guarantee that no one is sitting next to you! Expensive, you say? Just rent out your extra seat space as a smart storage for other people’s coats.

If you want privacy, you don’t go to a movie theatre 🙂
